Ariel is beautiful. There is really no getting around that part. She has slightly longer gray tabby fur, the prettiest face and a big, sweeping tail that seems almost excessive on such a little cat. Her foster family gave her the name Ariel, and between the flowing hair and general princess situation, we understand why. But spend a little time with her and the pretty quickly becomes the least interesting thing about her. Ariel has been growing up in a foster home where she is very loved. She lives with children and another cat, gets plenty of hands-on attention and has had the kind of early life that lets a kitten learn that people are good, home is safe and there is usually something interesting happening nearby. You can see it in the way she carries herself. She is comfortable, curious and happy to be part of things. Go watch Ariel on YouTube and meet her for yourself. The photos will introduce you to that magnificent tail, but the video gives you a much better sense of the sweet, confident little girl attached to it. Ariel is affectionate and friendly, but what we especially like about her is how comfortable she seems in her own little kitten skin. She can go investigate something, spend time with the other cats, enjoy some playtime and then come right back for affection. She isn’t trying very hard to win anyone over. She is simply a lovely little cat who has been given a wonderful start and understands that life is better with a beloved person to snuggle up to. Her foster family has gotten to watch her personality take shape, and there is something really nice about imagining where it goes from here. Today she is this fluffy little kitten padding around their home with children and another cat. Someday she will be somebody’s grown-up girl, stretched across the couch with that enormous tail spilling over the edge, completely at home in the family that chose her.
