What if we told you that having three legs just means there's one less paw to wipe after a muddy adventure? Meet August—an eight-month-old Lab/australian cattle dog mix (our best guess!) who's proof that the best things really do come in small, slightly goofy packages. At just 35 pounds, August is the perfect medium-sized sidekick. With his creamy white coat sprinkled in adorable orange freckles, caramel-colored ears, and the happiest smile you've ever seen, he's impossible not to love. And then there's his signature tripod bunny hops. They're ridiculously cute, completely effortless, and if you ask August, they're just his own special way of getting around. Missing a leg has never stopped him from living life to the fullest—it just gives him a little extra character. Fast track getting to know August by watching his video here! Then come back to read more about him! August is living in a loving foster home with dogs of every shape and size—from teeny tiny little pups to giant Great Pyrenees—and he fits right in with everyone. He's playful, respectful, and absolutely loves having doggy friends to romp around with. Because he's still mastering life as a tripod, he'd especially enjoy another playful but polite pup who matches his fun-loving energy without being too rough. He's also growing up with cats! Like any curious puppy, he sometimes thinks the cats might enjoy a game of chase, but it's all playful curiosity. He'd do well in a home with dog-savvy cats that don't mind teaching a young pup some boundaries and have a place to escape when they want some quiet time. August's foster says that if you fill up the toy box in the morning, don't expect it to stay that way for long. This little guy is on a mission to make sure every single toy gets equal attention. Stuffies? Amazing. Tennis balls? Absolutely. Tug toys? Sign him up. If it squeaks, bounces, rolls, or can be proudly carried around the house, August is all in. He especially loves playing fetch and happily entertaining himself between play sessions. But underneath all that puppy fun is one incredibly affectionate little guy. August is the kind of dog who believes belly rubs should happen frequently and that personal space is highly overrated. He'll happily roll onto his back the moment you start petting him and soak up every bit of love you're willing to give. Whether he's following you around the house, leaning into your legs for attention, or curling up nearby after a busy day, he just wants to be close to his people. Like any young pup, August still has a little polishing to do with his leash manners, but he's eager to learn and responds well to gentle guidance. He's wonderfully social with both people and dogs, shares his toys and treats beautifully, and has all the makings of an incredible family companion. He's done well with children in a previous foster home and has the kind of sweet, happy-go-lucky personality that makes friends wherever he goes. Because August is still an energetic puppy, his dream home would include a yard where he can zoom, play fetch, and enjoy all the puppy adventures his heart desires. He could also do well in a condo or townhome, or a very dog-friendly apartment that doesn't mind the occasional puppy announcement. As long as he gets plenty of exercise, enrichment, and time with his favorite people, he's one happy boy. August may only have three legs, but he has enough love, joy, resilience, and goofy puppy charm to make up for ten. If you're looking for a best friend who will make you laugh every day, remind you to appreciate the little things, and love you with his whole heart, August is ready to hop his way right into your family.
