Ben is the dog you bring along because you already know he is going to make the day easier. Coffee on a patio, an afternoon at a brewery, a walk around the neighborhood, friends stopping by, dogs of every shape and energy level crossing his path, Ben simply understands how to fit himself into the moment. At around three years old, the puppy chaos is behind him, but all the fun is still very much intact. He is social, affectionate, wonderfully adaptable and, quite simply, such a good boy! He has a warm orangey-brown and white coat, a wonderfully expressive face and a look that seems to borrow a little something from several different breeds. There may be some Basenji-ish influence in that handsome face, maybe some bully breed, maybe something completely unexpected. Rescue breed guesses are always just our best guess, and Ben is keeping his family tree to himself. What we know much more confidently is that Ben is exceptionally good with other dogs. He has spent time with a wide variety of personalities, from small, low-energy dogs who have absolutely no interest in playing to playful puppies ready to turn the room into a wrestling ring. Ben adjusts beautifully. With a playful friend, he can happily get into some rough-and-tumble fun. With a quieter dog, he softens his approach, gives them space and can be wonderfully gentle and submissive. He seems to have a natural ability to read the room and match the dog in front of him. That same easy nature carries over beautifully with people. Ben is loving without being demanding, leaning his body into you for affection and happily rolling over when belly rubs are on offer. He enjoys being close, but he doesn't need to be the center of attention every minute. At home, Ben is downright easy to have around. He settles beautifully, loves stretching out on the couch and is fully capable of taking a serious nap while life carries on around him. Noise and normal household activity don't seem to ruffle him much. He can snooze through the commotion, wake up when something interesting happens and then happily join whatever comes next. He is also a great car rider, which makes his whole personality feel particularly well suited to someone who wants a true tag-along companion. Ben doesn't need a packed adventure calendar to be happy, but he would be an excellent buddy for someone who enjoys getting out occasionally and wants a dog who can comfortably be part of those plans.
