Daisy is bringing all the yellow Lab energy we know and love. She is 100% a goofball and has so much excitement for the world that she simply cannot help but wiggle, wiggle, wiggle! Her zoomies are the best, and we promise they will make you laugh just as much as they made us. At her core, Daisy is a really sweet, affectionate girl who knows three things for sure: toys, affection, and yummy treats. She is incredibly loyal, and when Daisy loves you, you KNOW it. She forms wonderful bonds with her people and definitely has her favorite humans. If you are lucky enough to be one of them, you have a very special friend for life. Daisy loves getting out for adventures and enjoys exploring, meeting new people, and spending time outdoors. On the weekends, she is all about sleeping in before heading out for a long walk. She is currently working on her leash skills, but with her love of treats and eagerness to please, we think she will pick up new skills and tricks in no time. She already knows how to sit! And kids? They are absolutely right up Daisy’s alley! She has spent time with children of all ages and thinks the normal kid-friendly chaos is a pretty great time. She is tolerant of jumping around and all the excitement that comes with having little humans around. Daisy even joined in on a “gymnastics class” when her new human friend was doing cartwheels all over the place. Naturally, Daisy decided she needed to participate too and gave her very best roll over. 10s all around! She takes treats incredibly gently from kiddos and is happy to accept big bear hugs. But do not be fooled by all that goofy energy—Daisy loves to relax too. She was perfectly content snuggling on the couch with her toys beside her new little besties. Since Daisy is a big girl, kids 4+ will be the best fit for her. Daisy enjoys playgroups with other pups, although she takes a minute or two to warm up and get comfortable. She could absolutely have a doggy sibling, preferably a relaxed, easygoing male who is happy to share his home with her. That said, Daisy would also be perfectly happy being your one and only and having all the love and attention to herself! Cats, however, are not Daisy’s thing. She handled a cat hissing at her with ease, but she was much too excited and wanted to chase. So a cat-free home will be best for this silly girl. One of Daisy’s best qualities is her wonderful manners. She is incredibly well behaved and knows how to listen. She may get excited in new places, but she does not act out in public. She is a fantastic sidekick both in and out of the house. Daisy has also been known to sing a song every now and then, especially when she is REALLY excited. So a home where she can occasionally let her inner singer out without worrying about close neighbours would be ideal! Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
