Handsome Pete has the kind of smile that could brighten even the worst day. He is a big-hearted, joy-filled goofball who wakes up ready to have fun and makes sure everyone around him does too. Whether he is bouncing through the yard with a dog friend, proudly showing off his tricks, or climbing into your lap like he belongs there, Handsome brings happiness everywhere he goes. You will never be bored with him, and it is nearly impossible not to smile when his happiness is so wonderfully contagious. We believe he may be a Pittie mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses. What we do know for certain is that this boy has a larger-than-life personality, a heart full of love, and a happy-go-lucky outlook that refuses to let anything rain on his parade. Handsome absolutely loves people and has never met a stranger. He greets everyone like a new best friend and is always ready to soak up affection. Once the fun is over, he turns into a total cuddle bug who is perfectly content curling up beside his people for a cozy evening on the couch. His foster describes him as the type of boyfriend who will never break your heart, and honestly, with that smile and all that love to give, we have to agree. He has also been wonderful with children, greeting them confidently and kindly. Handsome is dog friendly and currently lives in a foster home with a couple of other dogs. His play style is bouncy, enthusiastic, and wonderfully silly. He can easily keep up with a rough-and-rowdy playmate and tends to match the energy the other dog gives him. He would thrive with a confident, playful female dog who can handle his goofy bouncing, enjoy a good game of chase or wrestling match, and let him know when it is time for a break. He would love having a canine best friend to play with and do life with, but he could just as happily be your one-and-only and soak up all the attention for himself. No kitties for Handsome, please. This smart boy loves toys and is great at entertaining himself. He will happily toss a toy around on his own, but he is also always ready for a game of fetch with his people. He even seems to understand “drop,” which makes keeping the game going that much easier. Handsome is highly treat motivated, eager to please, and already knows sit, shake, and down. He is the kind of clever, enthusiastic dog who would have a blast learning all sorts of fun new tricks, especially if treats and praise are involved. Handsome is fully potty trained, has good house manners, and does well in his crate. He sleeps quietly through the night, follows a routine well, and responds nicely to gentle guidance and reminders. He is also a wonderful passenger who loads himself into the car and often falls asleep during the ride, making him an easy companion for errands and adventures. Handsome’s ideal home would be with a semi-active family and a backyard where he can stretch his legs, toss his toys around, and soak up the sunshine. Picture him bouncing through the grass with his favorite toy, happily joining you for an afternoon of play, then heading inside to relax once he has gotten his energy out.
