Luke Buddy is just one of those dogs that's easy to love. Seriously. He somehow manages to be the puppy that's always up for whatever you've got planned without making you feel like you have to entertain him every second of the day. Want to spend the afternoon outside exploring? He's in. Going to the lake? Count him in. Planning absolutely nothing besides hanging out on the couch? Honestly, that might be his favorite part of the day. He's playful, sweet, loves other dogs, adores being with his people, and has this really nice "go with the flow" personality that's honestly pretty refreshing in a puppy. He's the kind of dog that just fits into your life instead of expecting your life to revolve around him. Watch his video and prepare to fall in love with this handsome guy: Luke is believed to be approximately 7 months old and currently weighs around 44 pounds. As with any rescue dog, his exact breed is always a mystery, but our best guess is he's a Lab/Pittie mix. Whatever combination created him also gave him a wonderful mix of playful puppy energy and an easygoing personality that's hard not to love. One of the things we love most about Luke is how adaptable he is. He absolutely enjoys getting outside, checking out new places, splashing around in the water, and soaking up everything the world has to offer. But unlike some puppies that need to be constantly on the move, Luke is perfectly happy slowing things down once the fun is over. After a walk, a trip to the park, or a good play session with his dog friends, he's more than ready to stretch out next to his people and enjoy a quiet evening together. He's still every bit of a puppy, but he's already showing what an incredible companion he's going to grow into. Luke absolutely loves other dogs and has lived with dogs of all different sizes and personalities. He's happiest when he has someone to chase around the yard, wrestle with a little, or splash around outside with. One thing his foster has noticed is that Luke has really nice social skills with other dogs. If play starts getting a little too rough, he simply walks away instead of trying to match their energy. We love that about him because it shows just how gentle and easygoing he is. While we think he'd have a blast with another playful dog, we also think he'd do just fine as an only dog as long as he gets plenty of love and opportunities to get out and enjoy life. He's also living with a cat and, after one correction, quickly decided respecting the cat was the best plan. Luke has also been around children ranging from 3 to 17 years old and has done wonderfully with them. He's sweet, gentle, and has all the qualities that make us think he'll be an incredible family dog. He can be a little unsure when meeting someone new at first, but it doesn't take him long before he's happily soaking up attention and joining in on whatever's going on. Like any growing puppy, Luke enjoys his toys. Balls are definitely his favorite, although he's still trying to figure out that bringing them back is part of the game. Stuffed toys don't usually stand much of a chance either, so having plenty of durable toys and chew toys around will definitely keep him happy. The good news is he's wonderfully easygoing about sharing and happily lets people take toys away without any fuss. Luke sleeps quietly in his crate at night and rides safely crated in the car, although you'll need to give him a little boost getting in and out. He's been out to the park and has done well exploring new places. He's currently getting yard play and leash walks each day, and while he's still polishing up his potty training and occasionally marks indoors, he's continuing to make progress with consistency and routine, just like any young puppy. Luke is still learning all the normal puppy things. He can be a little vocal when someone comes to the door, loves spending time outside soaking up the sunshine, and if given the opportunity, he might decide digging sounds like a pretty fun afternoon activity. His foster has had great success simply redirecting him with a chew toy or telling him "no," and Luke responds really well. Loud noises can make him a little nervous, so having a family that continues building his confidence will help him blossom even more. If you're looking for a dog that can spend one day exploring a new trail, another day splashing around at the lake, and the next curled up next to you on the couch while you binge your favorite show, Luke checks every box. He's sweet, playful, gentle, and has that rare ability to match the energy of the people around him.
