Meet Melanie, an adorable 4-month-old Basset Hound mix with the sweetest personality, an irresistible pair of long floppy ears, and some very important puppy priorities: play a little, cuddle a lot, and never miss a good nap. Those ears are definitely part of Melanie’s charm. They frame her sweet little face perfectly and somehow make everything she does even cuter. Whether she is wandering around investigating something new, playing with a toy, or settling down for another very important puppy nap, those long Basset-style ears seem to follow right along with her. Melanie is still very much a baby, and right now naps are serious business. After some playtime or exploring, she is perfectly happy curling up for a snooze — especially if one of her siblings is available to cuddle with. Watching Melanie snuggle into a puppy pile with those floppy ears stretched out beside her makes for some ridiculously cute photo opportunities. When Melanie is awake and ready for fun, she enjoys playing with dog toys and spending time with her siblings. She has a gentle play style and isn’t a mouthy puppy, which makes her especially pleasant to interact with. She would likely enjoy having children to play with and could also be a wonderful addition to a home with other friendly dogs. Melanie loves being near her foster and will happily follow them around to see what everyone is doing. She is sweet, curious, and very treat-motivated, so tasty snacks are definitely one way to her heart. She has also met cats and seems to find them fascinating. At this point, Melanie hasn’t quite figured out what she is supposed to do with them. For now, they seem to be interesting little creatures worthy of careful observation while she works out this whole “cat” situation. Despite being so young, Melanie can be cautious when she encounters unfamiliar people or new environments. She may need a little time to observe and decide that everything is okay before fully relaxing. A patient family willing to introduce her to new people, places, and experiences at her own pace can help her continue building confidence as she grows. At only four months old, Melanie still has so much learning, growing, and discovering ahead of her. She is looking for a family ready for all the wonderful parts of raising a puppy — playtime, training, new adventures, plenty of treats, and an impressive amount of napping. If you’re looking for a gentle little companion who will follow you around the house, play sweetly with her friends, cuddle up when she gets sleepy, and charm you daily with those wonderfully long floppy ears, Melanie may be your girl. *Insert adoption link* Questions?
