Molly Jane Bay | The Clever Little Girl Who Melts in Your Arms Molly Jane Bay has two very different modes: clever little puppy with places to be and completely melted cuddle puddle. She's smart, laid-back, playful, and just independent enough to keep you on your toes—but pick this girl up for a snuggle and suddenly all of her important puppy business can wait. At just 9 weeks old and approximately 10.3 lbs, Molly is a beautiful Black Labrador Retriever/Lab mix and one of four girls in her litter of five. She's dressed almost entirely in glossy black with a little white spot on her chest, giving her that classic, beautiful Lab look. Watch Molly Jane and her siblings in action, then come back to read more! One thing has become very clear about Molly and her siblings: these are some smart puppies. In Molly's case, those brains have already earned her the title of little escape artist. If there's a way to investigate what's happening on the other side of something, Molly may very well be the puppy figuring it out. She's clever, curious, and keeps her foster on her toes in the funniest way. Her future family may want to stay one step ahead when it comes to puppy-proofing. Molly is already working on staying two steps ahead of you. For all that puppy cleverness, though, Molly has a surprisingly laid-back personality. She absolutely has normal puppy energy and enjoys playing and exploring, but she doesn't seem to believe life needs to happen at full speed all the time. And then you pick her up. That's when Molly's entire body seems to say, “Oh. Never mind. This is what I wanted.” She melts right into you and wants to be snuggled, happily settling into your arms and soaking up the closeness. It's an especially adorable contrast to the clever little escape artist you saw moments earlier. Apparently Molly only believes in escaping until someone offers her a sufficiently comfortable cuddle. Molly has also been given an incredible start in foster care. She and her siblings are growing up around young, energetic children, adults, other dogs, and all the sounds of a busy family home. Their foster has intentionally exposed the puppies to things like rain and thunderstorm sounds and clanking food bowls, while everyday kid chaos has helped make plenty of movement and noise a normal part of life. She does wonderfully with young children and has shown no noticeable preference between men and women, giving this little girl some fantastic early experience for life as a family dog. Molly also loves spending time with her foster's energetic 7-month-old Goldendoodle. The puppies happily run and chase with her, giving them great experience interacting with a larger, playful canine friend. They're curious about the young Blue Lacy mix in the home as well, although their foster is appropriately taking that introduction slowly. Cats haven't been introduced yet, so any future feline friendships will need thoughtful introductions. Molly is already kennel trained, generally quiet in her crate, and a great little car passenger when riding kenneled. Potty training is also going wonderfully for puppies this young. An occasional overnight accident can still happen, but she's already building a great foundation. And like the rest of this food-loving litter, Molly is highly treat motivated. That's especially exciting with a puppy who's already showing how smart she is—positive, reward-based training should give that busy little brain something productive to figure out. Bath time is one area where Molly respectfully disagrees with some of her siblings. While they may think getting bathed is great fun, Molly doesn't particularly love it—but she tolerates it well. That's a perfectly fair compromise in her book. At only nine weeks old, Molly still has all the normal puppy learning ahead of her. Her family will need to continue potty training, introduce leash skills and basic commands, provide appropriate outlets for chewing and play, and keep building on the wonderful socialization she's already received. And maybe double-check that puppy gate. Then check it one more time. Just in case Molly checked it first. Molly Jane Bay is the best combination of brains, puppy mischief, easygoing sweetness, and irresistible cuddles. She'll happily play and explore when there's fun to be had, but scoop her into your arms and this clever little escape artist suddenly has nowhere else she'd rather be. If you're looking for a smart, funny little Lab girl who can keep you laughing one minute and completely melt into your chest the next, Molly Jane Bay is ready to find the arms she'll call home!
