Nacho Frito is nacho average puppy. With his squishable bear-like face, adorable forehead wrinkles, and fluffy little body, he looks like someone brought a teddy bear to life and gave it four paws. He is sweet, playful, affectionate, and the perfect mix of snuggly and independent. Nacho loves being close to his people and soaking up affection, but he is not clingy and is perfectly content entertaining himself or settling down nearby when cuddle time is over. Watch his video and fall in love with this little bear: Nacho is approximately 4 months old and currently weighs around 30 pounds. We believe he may be a German Shepherd Dog and Chow mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses. Since he is already a sturdy little guy at only four months old, his future family should be prepared for him to grow into a larger adult dog. He has also spent time around his foster’s four grandchildren, including the youngest who is approximately 7 years old, and he does great with them. Nacho has wonderful potential to grow into an incredible family dog, especially with a family committed to continuing his training, socialization, and helping him learn all the things a young puppy needs to know. Nacho can be a little shy when visiting unfamiliar places or meeting new people, but he is still just a baby who has not had many worldly experiences yet. With patience, positive exposure, and continued socialization, we believe his confidence will continue to grow. Beneath that initially shy exterior is an affectionate, playful little guy who loves toys, treats, and spending time with the people he trusts. Nacho is dog friendly and is currently fostered in a home with a full-sized Poodle and a smaller breed dog who is around his size right now. He gets along wonderfully with both of them, and his foster says they love playing together. One of the best things about their little group is that they also understand when it is time to take a break, so Nacho is already learning how to balance puppy playtime with settling down and relaxing. Nacho is crate trained and is continuing to learn that his crate is a comfortable and safe place to relax. He is also doing really well learning where the appropriate potty places are. Like any puppy his age, he will need consistency, structure, regular potty breaks, and a family willing to continue guiding him as he grows. Because Nacho will likely become a larger dog with the intelligence and needs commonly associated with German Shepherds and Chows, we would love to see him with an adopter who has some experience or knowledge of these breeds. He would do best in a home with a backyard where he has room to play and a family committed to ongoing training, socialization, and giving him plenty of positive experiences. He is sweet, affectionate, playful, smart, and unbearably cute, with just enough independence to make him an easy little buddy to have around.
