Peaches Rainbow | The Tenderhearted Little Peach Peaches Rainbow doesn't need to be the puppy bouncing the highest or running the fastest to get your attention. There's something about this little girl that draws you in much more quietly. Thoughtful, gentle, affectionate, and incredibly tenderhearted, Peaches has a softer personality than some of her Rainbow siblings and a face that's almost impossible to resist. At 5 months old, Peaches is a Pit Bull Terrier/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix and the smallest of the Rainbow litter, currently weighing around 17 pounds. She's working on putting on a little more weight, and considering how much this girl enjoys treats, we're hopeful she won't mind that assignment one bit. While some of her siblings are ready to jump for joy, race around, chase everything that moves, and throw themselves headfirst into classic puppy adventures, Peaches tends to take life at a gentler pace. She certainly still has puppy curiosity, but she's also perfectly happy simply settling beside her person and enjoying their company. When something is unfamiliar, Peaches may take a little time to figure things out before showing you her affectionate side. She was somewhat reserved at first during her recent content session, so we gave her exactly what she needed: a little time, some tasty treats, and gentle head scratches. Before long, that sweet girl started leaning her head right into us. That's Peaches' quiet little way of saying, "Don't stop. I'd like some more of that, please." Once she's comfortable, her affection feels especially rewarding because it's so gentle and sincere. She doesn't need to climb all over you to make her presence known. Sometimes she's happiest simply sitting close, leaning that little head into your hand, and soaking up the attention. Peaches is also doing nicely with her crate routine. For the most part, she settles without making much of a fuss. She did let out the softest little whimper while we were with her, but otherwise handled her crate time well. Potty training will need some additional attention, but Peaches is already giving some helpful clues. When she needs to go, she tends to start sniffing around the room and has difficulty settling while she searches for a spot, often making her way toward a corner. Learning to recognize those cues and getting her outside quickly will be important. A consistent potty schedule, frequent opportunities to go outside, and plenty of praise when she gets it right should help her understand what her family is asking of her. And thankfully, Peaches happens to love treats. Her food motivation should be a wonderful training tool for potty training and the many other skills she's still learning. She's already wonderful about having her collar and leash put on, although her actual leash skills could use some additional practice. She's still a young puppy, so patience, positive reinforcement, and repetition will go a long way. Peaches doesn't need to become the loudest or boldest puppy in the room. There's something really special about the girl she already is. She's the one who takes a moment to observe. The one who appreciates a softer approach. The one who discovers that your hand gives really good head scratches and slowly leans her whole sweet little face into it for more. And the one who's perfectly content to settle beside you while everybody else is busy racing around. At 5 months old, Peaches still has plenty of growing and learning ahead of her. She'll need continued potty training, leash practice, appropriate socialization, enrichment, and all the routine, consistency, patience, support, and love that come with raising a puppy. What she brings in return is a wonderfully gentle little presence. Peaches Rainbow is thoughtful, affectionate, food-loving, tenderhearted, and beautifully sweet.
