She loves being held and being close to her people, but she also has plenty of playful energy. Give her time to walk, bounce around, and enjoy her toys, and you’ll get to know both her fun side and her snuggly side. She has met dogs both big and small and especially enjoys companions who can play without being too pushy or physical with her. Smaller dogs feel comfortable right away, while bigger friends mean she takes one extra beat to find her footing before the bouncy play begins. Her ideal dog buddy will join in the fun, respond to her cues, and let her wander off to mingle with the people when she is ready for a break. She can bring some enthusiasm to her own play, too, and responded well when another dog let her know it was their turn for a break. Penelope also did well meeting our house cat, Biggie, which was so sweet to see. Any introductions to cats in her future home should still be gradual and supervised but we see a respectfully cautious dog that should have no problem living with a feline friend. We think Penelope may be a Border Terrier and Chihuahua mix, though breed is our best guess and we estimate her to be 1 year old. She could be happy in an apartment or a house with regular exercise and playtime. She has a start on her leash skills and needs continued practice given her age. A first-time adopter willing to teach her the basics could be a lovely match.
