Scarlet Rose Bay | The Sassy Little Social Butterfly Scarlet Rose Bay has opinions, personality, and absolutely no intention of keeping either one to herself. The most playful and vocal puppy of her litter, Scarlet is a funny, affectionate little girl with plenty of puppy sass packed into her tiny black body. At just 9 weeks old and approximately 9.8 lbs, Scarlet is a beautiful Black Labrador Retriever/Lab mix and one of four girls in her litter of five. She's dressed in a sleek black coat with a small patch of white on her chest, giving this spunky little lady a classic look to go along with her not-so-subtle personality. Watch Scarlett and her siblings in action, then come right back to read more! Of the five Bay puppies, Scarlet is the one most likely to say, “Okay, but here's what I think.” She's an opinionated little girl who isn't afraid to use her voice when she has something important to contribute. She's more vocal than her siblings and has a little extra sass to her personality—but that's part of what makes Scarlet so much fun. She's expressive, engaging, and already has a knack for making people laugh. And when it's time to play? Scarlet is ready. She's the most playful puppy of the bunch and happily throws herself into all the fun that comes with being nine weeks old. Whether she's romping with her siblings, chasing around her canine friends, or investigating what's happening nearby, Scarlet has plenty of enthusiasm for puppy life. Thankfully, all that spice comes with plenty of sweetness. Scarlet is also an affectionate little girl who enjoys attention and connection with her people. She may have more to say than some of her siblings, but underneath those puppy opinions is the same loving nature that makes this entire litter so special. And Scarlet has been given an incredible start. She and her siblings are growing up in a busy foster home surrounded by people, young children, other dogs, and all the wonderful chaos that comes with family life. Their foster has young, energetic children herself, so running feet, excited voices, playtime, and everyday household sounds aren't unusual experiences for these puppies. Their foster has also intentionally exposed them to different noises, including rain and thunderstorm sounds and clanking food bowls, helping them experience a variety of sounds during this important stage of development. Scarlet does wonderfully with young children and has shown no noticeable preference between men and women. She and her siblings absolutely love their foster's energetic 7-month-old Goldendoodle and happily run and chase alongside her. They're also curious about the young Blue Lacy mix in the home, although their foster is taking that introduction slowly. The puppies haven't been introduced to cats yet, so any future feline friendships should begin with thoughtful introductions. For only nine weeks old, Scarlet already has some wonderful everyday foundations. She's kennel trained, generally does well in her crate, and rides great in the car while kenneled. Potty training is also going remarkably well for her age, although the occasional overnight accident can still happen while she's growing and learning. And if you really want Scarlet's attention, there's one particularly effective strategy: Bring snacks. Scarlet and her siblings are very food motivated and love treats, which should be incredibly useful for continued training. With an expressive, clever puppy like Scarlet, having something she considers worth working for can make learning new skills that much more fun. Scarlet is still only nine weeks old, so her forever family gets the privilege—and responsibility—of helping shape the adult dog she'll become. She'll need continued potty training, leash work, basic commands, appropriate outlets for chewing and puppy energy, and lots of continued positive socialization. But one thing probably isn't going anywhere: That personality. Scarlet Rose Bay is playful, affectionate, expressive, a little sassy, and just opinionated enough to make sure life with her is never boring. She's the girl who brings a little extra noise to playtime, a little extra spice to the litter, and plenty of love along with it. If you're looking for a playful little sidekick with a big personality, an affectionate heart, and plenty to say about the world, Scarlet Rose Bay is ready to bring a little sass—and a whole lot of fun—to her forever family!
