Zora is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how you ever lived without her. She’s sweet, gentle, playful, wonderfully well-mannered, and somehow manages to be both the life of the party and the perfect houseguest. If there were such a thing as a dream dog checklist, Zora would be checking nearly every box. Cutest thing about Zora.... she loves carrying her toys around the house like she’s giving them a personal tour. It’s one of those little Zora quirks that you can’t help but smile at. Because Zora is in a loving foster home, we get to see exactly what she’s like as a family dog—and honestly, she is an absolute angel. She has settled beautifully into home life and is the kind of dog who makes things feel easy. She’s potty trained, non-destructive, comfortable in a crate, great with other dogs, wonderful with kids, and happiest when she has a cozy place to relax and a toy nearby. Watch Zora's video here! Though we cannot guarantee age or breed given Zora is a rescue, we estimate she is 5 years old, weighs 75 pounds, and is likely a German Shepherd mix. “Stats” aside, what really matters is who Zora is—and she is pretty special. Zora LOVES dogs. Not just tolerates them. Not just gets along with them. She genuinely loves having dog friends. She currently lives with a whole group of six dogs, both male and female, ranging from tiny puppies to senior dogs, and she happily gets along with everyone. She has played with tiny puppies, small dogs, and big dogs, and she adjusts beautifully to her friends. Sometimes playtime means zooming around the backyard together, and sometimes it means lounging on the couch having a silly little “Spidey face” play session. Zora is always ready to have fun with her canine friends. She would absolutely love a home with another friendly dog who enjoys playing, but she also knows how to settle down and enjoy the quieter moments. And then there are kids. Zora is wonderfully kid-friendly and loves the attention and affection they give her. She recently met an eight-year-old boy who gave her lots of belly rubs, and the two became instant best friends. Zora was happy to soak up the attention and enjoy his company. She would make such a lovely addition to a family looking for a dog who can be part of everyday family life. At home, Zora is about as easy as they come. She is: * Fully house-trained and has never had an accident in the house * Non-destructive and has never chewed furniture * Quiet and comfortable in her crate * Crated for 3–4 hours during the day and overnight * Happy to chew on her designated chew toys * Absolutely obsessed with her toys * Great with other dogs * Playful when it’s time to play and relaxed when it’s time to lounge * A total professional at being a houseguest Zora knows what belongs to her, too. Give this girl a chew toy, stuffy, rope, or another favorite toy and she is perfectly content. One of the cutest things about her is that she loves to carry her toys around the house. She doesn’t need to destroy them—she just seems to enjoy having her favorite things with her wherever she goes. Her house shoes are also a favorite “treasure,” although thankfully, she’s much more interested in relocating them than destroying them. Zora is also wonderfully affectionate in her own sweet way. She isn’t necessarily the dog who needs to be in your lap all day, but she absolutely loves attention and knows how to ask for it. A little nose nudge, those warm eyes looking up at you, and a very polite “excuse me, pets please” attitude is usually all it takes to communicate exactly what she wants. When it comes to new people, Zora can be a little shy. She may feel nervous when meeting strangers, particularly out in public, and she does best when people give her the space to approach them at her own pace. She tends to warm up much more easily when people are sitting down and allowing her to decide when she’s ready to say hello. Once she knows you’re safe, that sweet tail wag, gentle paw, and little nose nudge come right out. At home, she is much more comfortable meeting new people, which makes her a wonderful match for a family who enjoys a cozy home life rather than constantly taking their dog everywhere. She simply needs a patient family willing to let her build trust—and once she does, you get to see the incredibly sweet dog her foster family already knows and loves. Her foster family has gotten to know a dog who is playful without being overwhelming, affectionate without being demanding, social with dogs of all sizes and ages, wonderful with kids, and incredibly well-mannered inside the home. She is the dog who will run around the backyard with her friends, then come inside and happily lounge on the couch. She’ll play with a puppy, play with a big dog, play with you, or entertain herself with her favorite toy. She’ll carry that toy from room to room just because she can. She’ll curl up nearby while everyone does their thing. She’ll politely ask for some pets when she wants them. And when it’s time to settle down, she knows how to relax. She’s afraid of vacuums and can occasionally be nervous around strangers, but those little quirks feel pretty easy to accommodate when you consider everything else this girl brings to the table. Give her patience, consistency, and the chance to approach new things at her own pace, and she’ll reward you with the sweetest companionship. Zora really is the kind of dog families hope to find. She’s playful. She’s gentle. She’s kid-friendly. She’s dog-friendly. She’s house-trained. She’s non-destructive. She’s crate-trained. She loves her toys. She loves her dog friends. She knows how to have fun, and she knows how to relax. Most importantly, she is simply a genuinely wonderful dog. If you’ve been looking for a dog who can fit into family life, enjoy a good play session, make friends with the resident dogs, happily lounge around the house, and bring a little extra sweetness into your everyday routine, Zora might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.
